More green spaces are popping up in this part of the emirate
Abu Dhabi is welcoming 16 new neighbourhood parks, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) announced in a statement.
All set within the Al Shamkhah district, a short drive from Zayed International Airport, the new neighbourhood spaces are part of the DMT’s ongoing commitment to enhancing urban liveability.
The new parks include expansive landscaped lawns, while eight dedicated fitness zones, 25 sports courts, and 26 inclusive children’s play areas invite residents of all ages to stay active and engaged.
There are also meandering walking paths and shaded seating areas, giving residents even more reasons to step out of their homes and spend time at these new outdoor spaces.
“The parks in Al Shamkhah are designed with people at their heart,” said Eng Khalifa Abdulla Alqemzi, Head of Capital Projects Execution – Abu Dhabi at DMT. “They offer safe and welcoming environments where residents can unwind, connect, and enjoy the outdoors. In the spirit of the Year of Community, these spaces are intended to nurture belonging, strengthen social bonds, and elevate everyday living.”
The Al Shamkhah parks join a growing portfolio of newly opened community spaces across the capital this year, including developments in Al Falah and Mohamed bin Zayed City.
Together, they form part of DMT’s wider vision to cultivate active, well-connected neighbourhoods, improving the quality of life of urban areas.
The news comes a few months after Aldar announced that it will be building a new residential community in Al Shamkhah that will offer almost 2,000 studios, 1-, 2-, and 3-bed units to the rental market.
Residents at the new Alreeman community will also have access to retail spaces, leisure amenities, and open green spaces inside their community.
