The new services connect passengers with Mohammed bin Zayed City Train Station
Abu Dhabi has introduced two new public bus routes, MR1 and MR2, designed to connect passengers directly with Mohammed bin Zayed City Train Station, making it simpler than ever to continue journeys on the UAE’s expanding Etihad Rail network.
The new services link the train station with both the Main Bus Station and Al Zahya Bus Station in both directions, offering seamless connections between Abu Dhabi’s public transport network and Etihad Rail’s passenger services.
The move comes as Etihad Rail continues to roll out its long-awaited passenger network, with the introductory service already connecting Abu Dhabi and Fujairah through six daily departures, with three services operating in each direction.
Passengers travelling by train can also take advantage of a dedicated AED10 shuttle bus, which links Mohammed bin Zayed City Station with several key destinations across the capital, including ADNOC Headquarters on Corniche Road West, ADNEC Centre and Reem Mall.
The shuttle can be booked through the Etihad Rail app or website, making onward travel around Abu Dhabi even more convenient.
To help create a smoother travel experience, Etihad Rail is also working closely with public transport authorities to coordinate bus and taxi services with train arrival and departure times, reducing waiting times and making transfers as straightforward as possible.
The rail network is also set to grow even further in the coming months. From 30 November, Etihad Rail will expand passenger services to include Liwa and Zayed Cities, opening up even more of the UAE by rail and giving residents and visitors new ways to explore the country without getting behind the wheel.
The new bus routes are another step towards creating an integrated public transport system, ensuring travellers can move easily between buses, trains and taxis as the UAE’s rail network continues its nationwide expansion.
