Things are about to get even better
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed has approved an investment of 42 billion dirham ($11.4 billion) to expand “the Liveability Strategy” to improve the quality of life in the emirate.
Making life better for everyone in Abu Dhabi has been a focus for authorities for a while, which helped the city secure fifth place in the 2025 IMD Smart City Index – a five-position jump in just 12 months.
Abu Dhabi has also been named the most liveable city in the MENA region (Economist Intelligence Unit) and one of the safest worldwide (Numbeo Crime and Safety Indices) for nine consecutive years.
Investment over the past few years has created 200 new parks and sports courts, 24 schools, 21 mosques, 28 community majlises, nearly 120 kilometres of walking paths, 283 cycling tracks, approximately 220 kilometres of new street lighting, and 200 beautification initiatives.
What’s next for the Abu Dhabi quality of life investment?
The new investment announced will now focus more on AI technologies, which will be used in government operations to improve the efficiency and quality of community services.

A big part of this is the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027, which aims to position Abu Dhabi as the world’s leading AI-powered government by 2027.
In fact, TAMM 4.0 will be launched in just a few weeks at this year’s GITEX Global, one of the world’s most established tech exhibitions.
The digital platform will offer even smarter and more interconnected AI-driven government services that can anticipate and proactively address the needs of individuals and businesses.
Speaking about the investment announcement, His Excellency Eng Abdulla Mohamed Al Blooshi, Acting Director General of the Urban Planning & Permits Centre at DMT, said: “We are proud that our Liveability Strategy has delivered exceptional results, elevating standards across the emirate through a focused approach that addresses the unique priorities of each area. As we move forward, the budget allocated for the next stage will support a wide range of community projects that are set to deliver lasting value for years to come.
“We will also integrate the latest AI technologies into our evaluation processes to facilitate urban planning and design practices that will shape places that inspire, connect, and endure, securing Abu Dhabi’s position as one of the world’s most liveable cities.”
