Even more telling, nearly two-thirds (64%) prefer to keep these special places off social media altogether, proving that some experiences really are best discovered the old-fashioned way.

This is the type of place where one coffee easily turns into an afternoon, whether you’re catching up with friends, working remotely or simply escaping the city’s fast pace.
Among those who have visited, almost 78% describe it as a genuine hidden gem, making it the highest-ranked location in the survey.
In second place is Hili Archaeological Park in Al Ain, proving that some of Abu Dhabi’s greatest treasures have been around for thousands of years.

Home to Bronze Age tombs, ancient settlements and beautifully landscaped gardens, the UNESCO-linked archaeological site offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s earliest civilisations.
More than 58% of visitors consider it one of the emirate’s hidden gems, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in history, culture or simply exploring somewhere a little different.
Completing the top three is camping at Jebel Hafit, one of the UAE’s most spectacular outdoor experiences.
Towering over Al Ain, the mountain has long been one of the country’s most recognisable landmarks.
While many visitors drive to the summit for the panoramic views, residents say spending the night beneath the mountain is where the real magic happens.
Over half of those surveyed named it among the emirate’s hidden gems.
While the top three claimed the spotlight, the research also highlighted plenty of other places residents believe deserve more attention.
The quirky Emirates National Auto Museum in Al Dhafra ranked fourth, followed by House of Artisans, which celebrates traditional Emirati craftsmanship.

Nature lovers continue to recommend Eastern Mangroves Promenade for its tranquil waterfront setting, while culture enthusiasts highlighted both Cultural Foundation and Manarat Al Saadiyat for their exhibitions, performances and creative programming.
Rounding out the top 10 are Abu Dhabi Dates Market, one of the best places to sample local produce, and the increasingly popular Nowhere Café, another favourite among coffee lovers.
Interestingly, the survey also revealed what actually makes somewhere feel like a hidden gem.
The number one reason residents chose a location was its calm and peaceful atmosphere (22%), followed by the overall quality of the experience and food (19%).
Cultural and heritage value came next, showing that authenticity matters just as much as aesthetics.
In a world where every new restaurant, beach and attraction is often shared online within minutes, Abu Dhabi residents are proving that the city’s greatest discoveries are still found through personal recommendations.
And judging by this list, there are plenty more waiting to be uncovered.
