Abu Dhabi Airports has reported impressive growth for the first half of 2024, with a notable 33.5 per cent increase in passenger traffic

It’s no secret that Abu Dhabi has fast become a tourism hub for many travelers coming to the MENA region, and this development has been supported by the increase in passenger traffics in the capital’s airports.

Abu Dhabi Airports has reported impressive growth for the first half of 2024, with a notable 33.5%  per cent increase in passenger traffic, totaling 13,983,885 travelers.

Zayed International Airport alone saw a 33.8 per cent rise, reaching 13,726,550 passengers. Flight movements also surged by 24.3 per cent, with 84,286 flights compared to 67,835 in H1 2023.

In the second quarter, AD Airports welcomed two new airlines—US Bangla and British Airways—expanding its network with new destinations like Sarajevo, Chandigarh, and Antalya. Seasonal flights to Trabzon and Nice were also introduced.

AD Airports handled 254,300 tonnes of cargo, supported by new partnerships and infrastructure upgrades.

The inauguration of a DHL airside facility and progress on the East Midfield cargo terminal highlight Abu Dhabi’s growing significance in global trade.

The latest figures are illustrate that Abu Dhabi, and it’s towering brother Dubai, continue to blossom in tourism terms and attract millions of travelers throughout the year.
