The Kip McGrath Difference: The Specialists in English and Maths Tuition

Over the past 40 years, we have helped hundreds of thousands of children improve their skills in English, reading, writing, comprehension and Maths skills.

Individual learning programmes are available to cater to your child’s needs.

Each session includes written and computer based activities, plus ongoing progress reports and regular tutor feedback.

Our assessments are obligation-free educational evaluations, conducted by a qualified teacher. Based on the results, a tailored programme will be created to address your child’s learning.

Qualified teachers using proven methods and techniques will bring out the best in your child from Kindergarten to Year 12 level.

Trust the experts to bring the fun back into learning.

Our Philosophy

We believe:

  • Everybody has the right to read, write and calculate, they just need to be taught properly
  • Resolved gaps in foundational learning can have lifelong impacts on your child
  • In building confidence, self-esteem and providing results for your child
  • All children can succeed if given the right support
  • Learning can be fun

English tuition covers grammar, reading, spelling, comprehension, phonemic awareness and written expression. The programme caters for students who are virtual nonreaders through to those who have only minor difficulties.

The curriculum covers all aspects of English that students are expected to learn in school (where English is the first language).

There are five key areas in the Kip McGrath Education Centre’s English curriculum:

Early Reading

            Reading

            Spelling

            Comprehension

English (Including vocabulary development and grammar)

KMEC provides tuition for students in mathematics between the ages of 5-17.

Students are taught to understand each new concept. The computer programs, textbooks, individual teaching and homework are used for practicing each newly introduced topic. The curriculum covers all the concepts that students between age 6 and high school graduation are expected to learn in school.

The Maths and English programmes are carefully designed so that each student works on their independent learning plan developed after the initial assessment. A student can start anywhere within the KMEC programmes at exactly the level suited to his/her current ability and knowledge.

What drives us – the global challenge

Imagine for a moment, if you can, if you were unable to use a computer because you could not read. If you were unable to fill out a form, apply for a job, read a novel, read a menu, drive a car, decipher a bus timetable, follow directions or protect your children from harm because you cannot read a label.

  • According to UNICEF, nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names. Two-thirds of them are women.
  • With almost 7 billion people on the planet, 1/6th of humanity is classified as illiterate.

The impact of illiteracy affects every community, every justice system and every economy in every country. People with the lowest levels of literacy are the least likely to be employed.
