The highly anticipated museum opening takes place on 11 December
The countdown is officially on.
Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is opening its doors on 11 December, and tickets have just gone on sale.
So if you want to be among the first through the doors, now’s the time to book.
General admission is AED 70, while some visitors can get in for free. That includes anyone under 18, UAE students and seniors aged 60 and above, with reduced rates also available for eligible groups.
But this isn’t just about ticking another museum off your Abu Dhabi list.
Set on Saadiyat Island, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is designed to be an experience in itself.
The museum was designed by the late Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate Frank Gehry, whose instantly recognisable architecture creates a dramatic setting for the art inside.
There are 28 galleries spread throughout the building, linked by a central atrium and 10 sculptural cones. There are also extensive outdoor exhibition spaces, giving visitors plenty of different ways to experience the museum.
Inside, the museum will explore modern and contemporary art through its collection, exhibitions, commissions and public programmes, with the aim of offering fresh perspectives and new ways to engage with art.
And with the opening now just around the corner, Abu Dhabi’s already busy Saadiyat cultural scene is about to get another major addition.
