Think Middle East Film & Comic Con couldn’t get any bigger? Think again. John Cena is officially heading to Abu Dhabi.
Yes, that John Cena. The WWE legend, Hollywood star, children’s author, rapper and all-round pop culture heavyweight is coming to Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi on 12 and 13 September.
And if you’ve ever wanted to meet one of the world’s biggest wrestling and entertainment stars, this could be your moment.
Cena has packed a lot into his career. After starting out as a professional bodybuilder and even working as a limousine driver, he went on to become one of WWE’s biggest names, collecting an incredible 17 world championships along the way.
Then came Hollywood.
Fans will recognise him from a string of huge films, including The Suicide Squad, Fast & Furious, Barbie, Bumblebee and Superman. He’s also become known for his knack for comedy, proving that there’s considerably more to Cena than his wrestling persona.
And his CV doesn’t stop there.
Cena has granted more wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation than anyone else, according to Guinness World Records, written bestselling children’s books and worked behind the scenes as a producer and narrator. Oh, and yes, he also released a rap album.
Naturally, it was called You Can’t See Me.
Cena isn’t coming alone. The WWE icon is joining an already seriously impressive MEFCC lineup.
Japanese actor Mackenyu, known for Netflix’s One Piece, is also set to appear, alongside Joonas Suotamo, the Finnish actor best known for playing Chewbacca in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Suotamo also appeared as Lurch in Netflix’s Wednesday.
And with more guest announcements expected, the lineup could get even bigger before the doors open.
MEFCC brings together some of the biggest parts of pop culture under one roof, from celebrity panels and meet-and-greets to cosplay, gaming, comics and fan experiences.
The Meet the Stars zone is where things get particularly exciting, giving fans the chance to meet their favourite actors and personalities through photo opportunities, signings and live conversations.
