However, when drivers enter the box without having enough space to fully exit on the other side, they can end up blocking vehicles travelling from other directions. The result is often a ripple effect of delays, bottlenecks and frustration for fellow road users.
According to Abu Dhabi Police, drivers should only enter a yellow box when they can see that the road ahead is completely clear and there is enough space for their vehicle to continue moving without stopping.

Stopping or parking within a yellow box is considered a traffic violation under the UAE’s traffic regulations and carries a fine of AED500.
The offence is monitored through traffic surveillance systems as well as dedicated patrols operating across the city.
