Autonomous delivery vehicles are now part of noon’s logistics network
If you spot a futuristic little vehicle cruising around Abu Dhabi with no driver in sight, don’t worry – you haven’t accidentally stepped onto a movie set or been fast-tracked into the year 2050.
Abu Dhabi has officially rolled out its pilot programme for autonomous e-commerce delivery vehicles, and they’re hitting the streets with purpose (and a lot of sensors).
Launched under the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council and led by Abu Dhabi Mobility, the project sees noon teaming up with AutoGo, K2’s autonomous tech arm, to bring self-driving delivery vehicles into the emirate’s logistics network.
These clever machines are now helping supply noon’s mini-fulfilment centres around the city, quietly zipping from point A to B without a human behind the wheel.

Powered by AI and packed with high-tech sensors, the vehicles are designed to navigate busy urban streets safely and smoothly.
The goal is to produce faster deliveries, less congestion, fewer emissions, and a major leap forward for Abu Dhabi’s smart mobility plans.
The pilot marks another milestone in the emirate’s mission to modernise its transport and logistics sectors, part of a wider strategy that aims for 25% of all trips in Abu Dhabi to use smart transport systems by 2040.
Dr. Abdulla Hamad Al Ghfeli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, told Gulf News that the project reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to an intelligent, sustainable transport network.
“This collaboration highlights ITC’s role in enabling innovative technologies within a safe and reliable regulatory framework that improves sustainability and quality of life,” he explained.
So next time one of these sleek, driverless delivery pods rolls past, just give it a nod, it’s not science fiction. It’s Abu Dhabi’s smart future arriving right on schedule.
