Warner Bros. World Yas Island may add a Harry Potter expansion in the near future

With Disneyland officially confirmed to be heading to Abu Dhabi on Yas Island, the regional theme park landscape is entering a bold new era.

Hot on the heels of a recent expansion at Yas Waterworld, signs now point to another major development in the works: a Harry Potter-themed land at Warner Bros. World Yas Island.

While details remain speculative, Dubai-based project intelligence portal MEED reports that Miral, the developer behind Yas Island’s growing entertainment empire, is expected to receive bids for the main construction works this July.

The project, valued between AED 2 and 3 billion ($545–816 million), would add 40,000 square metres to the existing park.

According to MEED, the expansion would include a fully immersive Harry Potter zone, complete with three new rides, themed retail outlets, and food and beverage experiences.

Though Miral has yet to officially comment, the move would mark one of the most ambitious expansions to the award-winning indoor theme park since its opening.

And with Disney’s UAE arrival looming on the horizon, the timing could be no coincidence.

Yas Island has been steadily positioning itself as a global family tourism hub, with continuous updates and investments across its theme park portfolio.

The recent upgrades to Yas Waterworld, which included new slides and upgraded attractions, reflect a broader strategy to keep the destination fresh and competitive.

A Harry Potter expansion, bringing one of the most beloved franchises in the world into the fold, would be a bold, and strategic, next step.

If the project proceeds as outlined, construction could begin as early as this year, with speculation suggesting an opening sometime in the latter half of the decade.

While the magic may still be in the making, one thing seems clear: the UAE is fast becoming the world’s next great theme park capital; and Yas Island is at the centre of it all.
