Step into history as Louvre Abu Dhabi unveils the region’s first Immersive VR experience
Louvre Abu Dhabi is ushering in a new era of storytelling with the launch of the Quantum Dome Project, a groundbreaking virtual reality experience unlike anything the region has seen before.
Blending cutting-edge technology with timeless artistry, the Quantum Dome Project offers visitors a 25-minute full-body VR journey through three pivotal civilizations.
Guests will get the chance to visit Imperial Rome, Medieval Baghdad, and Mughal India; all inspired by masterworks from Louvre Abu Dhabi’s own permanent collection.
This isn’t just virtual reality; it’s a multi-sensory leap through space and time.
Each segment of the experience is meticulously crafted to immerse participants in the essence of a bygone world:
Imperial Rome comes alive as you stroll under the majestic colonnades of the Augustus Forum, standing face-to-face with the enduring legacy of Roman power through the lens of the Portrait of Emperor Augustus (1st–2nd century CE).
In Medieval Baghdad, visitors enter the famed House of Wisdom, an intellectual beacon of the Islamic Golden Age. Inspired by the 12th–13th century De Materia Medica Folio, the scene invites you into a world where ancient scholars unlocked the mysteries of medicine and the cosmos.

Created in partnership with Small Creative Studio (France), the Quantum Dome Project combines immersive visuals, spatial audio, scent, and tactile feedback to create an experience that doesn’t just show history; it lets you live it.
Whether you’re a lifelong history enthusiast or a digital native seeking the next immersive thrill, this experience speaks to all ages (8 and above) and is available in Arabic, English, and French.
Louvre Abu Dhabi has long been celebrated for bridging the past and present; and now, with the Quantum Dome Project, it’s breaking new ground by transporting visitors into the heart of history with technology that feels like time travel.
The Quantum Dome Project is more than a technological innovation; it’s a bold reimagining of how museums can engage, educate, and inspire.
