Get ready for one of the UAE’s most beloved cultural events as the 21st Liwa Date Festival, happening from 14 to 27 July returns to Liwa City, Al Dhafra Region!
Celebrating the UAE’s rich agricultural heritage, the festival shines a spotlight on the date palm and its essential role in local culture and food traditions.
Held during the annual date harvest, it’s a vibrant mix of competitions, cultural activities, and community fun.
This year’s lineup includes:
12 date contests (“mazayna”) for varieties like Dabbas, Khalas, Fard, and more
Seven fruit contests for mangoes, lemons, figs, and a special “Local Fruits Basket”
Three Model Farm awards for top agricultural practices
Creative contests like the Most Beautiful Date Basket and Palm Trunk Art
Over AED 8.7 million in prizes, with top winners in some categories taking home up to AED 200,000!
