Miral’s ‘Cheering Squad’ turns hospital hallways into an under-the-sea adventure for 100 young patients

Who says a trip to the hospital can’t come with a little ocean-inspired wonder?

This week, SeaWorld® Yas Island Abu Dhabi teamed up with Miral and the Yas SeaWorld Research & Rescue Center to spread joy and a splash of marine magic at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC).

The initiative, part of Miral’s “Cheering Squad: A SeaWorld Experience,” transformed the hospital’s paediatric clinics into a place of discovery, smiles, and seagrass surprises for 100 young outpatients.

The theme? “What’s Beneath the Surface: Arabian Gulf.”

It brought hands-on fun with a side of education, as kids dug through sand and mock seagrass in search of shark teeth, learning about the fascinating shark species that call the Arabian Gulf home.

But the real star? A surprise visit from Sakina the dugong, SeaWorld’s lovable mascot, who waddled her way into hearts and lifted spirits with hugs, waves, and plenty of giggles.

Souvenirs, smiles, and a little sea science

Each child left with a shark-themed souvenir, a goody bag of SeaWorld gifts, and hopefully, a lasting memory of the day. The event wasn’t just about fun – it was a sweet reminder of the healing power of joy, play, and connection.

Tied to the UAE’s Year of Community 2025, the initiative reflects Miral’s commitment to education and social impact, bringing world-class entertainment and immersive learning right into the heart of Abu Dhabi’s community.

From shark teeth treasure hunts to dugong dance breaks, this wasn’t your average Tuesday in paediatrics. And that’s exactly the point.

Because sometimes, a little bit of ocean magic goes a long way.
