Authentic flavours, real Beirut vibes – our expert take on the best Lebanese restaurants in Abu Dhabi
The world knows that Lebanese food is simply some of the best – and no one knows it better than Yalla’s Managing Editor Derek Issacs, who lived in Beirut for 17 years.
Abu Dhabi, of course, has its fair share of Lebanese restaurants, from hole-in-the-wall gems to upscale dining spots, and everything in between.
But how do they really compare to the ones back in Lebanon?
Enter Derek.
With years of experience eating his way through Beirut’s finest (and grittiest) spots, he’s here to give his honest take on how Abu Dhabi’s Lebanese restaurants stack up in flavour, authenticity, and atmosphere.
So here goes – these are ktir tayeb, wallah!

MIJANA
There’s a reason I’m kicking off my list with Mijana at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi. Sure, it’s made the Michelin Guide’s ‘Best Lebanese Restaurants in Abu Dhabi’ list, but that’s just the start.
What really puts it at the top for me? It nails that fine-dining Lebanese experience you’d expect in Beirut, from flawless service to dishes that are the real deal, authentic all the way. This place doesn’t just talk the talk – it delivers.
Our pick
Makanek ma dibs rumman – Lebanese sausages in pomegranate sauce. Not many spots in the UAE can pull off that perfect balance of tangy and rich pomegranate sauce, but this one? It’s absolutely on point.
Then there’s the mashawee mshakaleh – an authentic Lebanese grill that’s as stunning to look at as it is to eat. It’s loaded with a fantastic selection of perfectly grilled meats, all served up just the way they should be.
Where to sit
This is a difficult one for me, as a lot depends on the weather. For that added luxe touch, the indoors are simply stunning in terms of interior design, but it’s the terrace that beckons with its pool views and gardens

LI BEIRUT
Also making the Michelin Guide list, Li Beirut at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers is a favourite for good reason.
With its smouldering interior design, it’s certainly on par with any restaurant of the same standing in Beirut.
But add into this mix, perfect harbour views, smooth service, and solid, Lebanese dishes, it’s hard to go wrong here.
The menu is rooted in classic Lebanese dishes, but the kitchen goes the extra mile with some modern twists and impressive presentation.
Our pick
There’s no show in Lebanon with out a tasty grill and Li Beirut delivers just that. The Arabic Mixed Grill comes full laden with lamb cutlets, Shish Taouk, Shish Kebab, Kofta Kebab. It looks divine and tastes even better!
Where to sit
The terrace at Li Beirut is no contest, offering superb pool and harbour views, but if you’re after a more romantic vibe, the indoors has intimate corners with soft, low lighting that set the perfect mood.

MOSAIC
Mosaic definitely offers an authentic Beiruti experience, with its buzzing family vibe well-dressed Lebanese waiters offering top-tier service, moving swiftly between tables. But more about the restaurant.
I’ve only dined at their Al Najda branch and often order in via a popular food app. The Al Najda location, along with others across the city, is light and airy, featuring a small terrace. Large glass windows offer a view of the busy city streets outside, but the action is definitely within the restaurant itself.
Our pick
The menu is fully laden, depending on the time of day, I go for one of the meal deals, such as three chicken shwarma sandwiches with a cold drink, but invariable, since I often order for lunch, I check out the Daily Dishes menu, which sell out fast. Bamiya (Okra) is my go-to. A hearty helping of okra and lamb with tomato served with rice.
Where to sit
This place is packed so you might want to call ahead of your visit. If you like the outdoors then the terrace is the obvious choice, but honestly, I think every table is the best seat and puts you at the centre of all the action no matter what.

ALLO BEIRUT
That ‘50s dining vibe is pretty popular in Beirut and Allo Beirut has taken it to the next level with its brightly coloured booths at this two-tier Lebanese diner with ample terrace.
The restaurant’s 50s-style neon signs that light up the place with a funky, retro vibe -bringing a blast of old-school cool to Abu Dhabi’s dining scene.
The rationale behind the design? Well, it looks pretty awesome but from a marketing perspective, a quick look on the website says that it echoes the ‘golden age’ of Beirut
The service is impeccable and despite the huge number of tables, there are ample waiters to ensure you get the service you expect when dining out.
Our pick
If you’re around in the morning, then you must try one of the traditional Lebanese breakfast dishes, such as Foul Moudammas, a mix of fava beans cooked with garlic, lemon juice & olive oil, topped with chickpeas.
Where to sit
Definitely indoors, to make sure you’re part of the groovy ‘50s design ethos
