NBA champions unveil transformed Reem Island court

Experience Abu Dhabi in partnership with Boston Celtics marked the event for basketball week

In celebration of community, art, and basketball Experience Abu Dhabi and the Boston Celtics unveiled a newly transformed basketball court at Reem Central Park.

Designed by Belgian artist Katrien Vanderlinden, the court blends iconic elements of Emirati culture with the Celtics’ signature Shamrock, incorporating traditional Al Sadu weaving patterns to create a unique space for the community.

The court’s revamp comes just in time for the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2024, where the Boston Celtics will face off against the Denver Nuggets in two pre-season games.

This transformation is part of Experience Abu Dhabi’s mission to inspire local athletes and foster a love for basketball across the UAE.

Alongside the games, fans can enjoy youth clinics, basketball development programmes, and the NBA Fan Appreciation Day, featuring a performance by rapper 2 Chainz.

A ‘Clash of the Legends’ event will see football icons like Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry compete in a basketball-football hybrid game at Etihad Arena, offering an unforgettable experience.

Abu Dhabi continues to cement itself as a hub for sports and culture, with this court makeover symbolising its dedication to creating spaces that inspire and connect communities.
