Several flights are being cancelled across the UAE going toward Iraq, Iran and Jordan
Ongoing political unrest in the Middle East has led to several flight cancellations across carriers in the UAE, including Emirates, Etihad Airways, Flydubai, Air Arabia and more!
Dubai’s flagship carrier, Emirates has announced the cancellation of flights to Iraq, Iran and Jordan on Wednesday and Thursday due to ‘regional unrest’. A statement on Emirates’ website confirmed it is cancelling all flights to/from Iraq (Basra and Baghdad), Iran (Tehran), and Jordan (Amman) on 2 and 3 October.
Emirates say customers transiting through Dubai with final destinations in Iraq, Iran, and Jordan will not be accepted for travel at their point of origin until further notice.
The flights include –
EK 837/838 Dubai‑Bahrain‑Dubai
EK855/86 Dubai‑Kuwait‑Dubai
EK31/32 Dubai‑London Heathrow‑Dubai
EK866/867 Dubai‑Muscat‑Dubai
Citing similar reasons, Flydubai also announced cancelling flights to Jordan, Iraq, Israel and Iran on the same days. Impacted customers are advised to contact their booking agents for alternative travel options or contact the airline if they have booked with them directly.
On Tuesday, a flydubai spokesperson confirmed flydubai flight FZ 143 to Amman International Airport (AMM) and FZ 157 to Ankara International Airport (ESB) have returned to Dubai.
flydubai FZ 728 From Istanbul International Airport (IST) to Dubai International (DXB) has returned to Istanbul. With the exception of Bandar Abbas, Kish and Lar, passengers connecting to the other destinations will not be accepted for their onward travel.
In Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways says it is re-routing a number of its flights on Wednesday in response to airspace restrictions in parts of the Middle East. According to a report in The National, the carrier announced on Wednesday morning that it was cancelling its flight service to Tel Aviv on Wednesday, 2 October.
The affected flights are EY593 from Abu Dhabi to Tel Aviv and EY594 from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi. The airline also previously told The National that its services to Beirut will remain cancelled until 8 October. The affected flights are EY535 and EY538.
Sharjah-based Air Arabia has so far released a statement extending the cancellation of their services to Beirut from Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. However, there’s no news on developments to flights to other affected regions.
