Abu Dhabi gets set for another knock-out event at Mubadala Arena

The fifth edition of the IMMAF Youth World Championships takes place next week

 

Mixed Martial Arts is very much part of the Abu Dhabi menu over the coming weeks and not only does Etihad Arena host UFC fight Night this weekend, but the capital is also finalising preparations for the fifth edition of the IMMAF Youth World Championships.

This highly anticipated event is being hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation (UAEJJF) will be held from 6-10 August at Zayed Sports City’s Mubadala Arena.

Under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi, the championship will feature over 800 athletes from more than 45 countries.

The event marks a significant milestone for Abu Dhabi, which has become a benchmark for organising international sports events.

The number of participating athletes and countries has increased by over 50 per cent since 2022, reflecting the growing popularity and significance of the championship.

The UAE’s national team aims to build on its previous achievements, which include securing fourth place in the overall tournament rankings and winning 12 medals in the second edition.

The event also highlights the strategic partnership between the UAEJJF and the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), which has been extended for another three years.

This partnership underscores the confidence of the global sports community in Abu Dhabi’s ability to host major international events.

Over 800 athletes from almost 50 different countries will compete at the throughout the week, making it one of the most highly-anticipated events in the region.
