In a dynamic fusion of sportsmanship and community engagement, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) have officially launched the highly anticipated third season of the Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League.

This year’s league has expanded its reach to include over 1,300 enthusiastic youngsters aged 11-14 from schools not only in Abu Dhabi but also, for the first time, in Al Ain.

Since its inception in 2022, Jr. NBA programming has made a significant impact on the lives of more than 10,000 youth in Abu Dhabi, becoming a pivotal force in the region for nurturing young talent and promoting the values of the game.

The recent Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League draft event, attended by distinguished personalities including NBA champions James Worthy and LaMarcus Aldridge, marked the official start of the season.

The league is set to kick off its games on 5 February, extending its influence into Al Ain and culminating in the third Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League Finals on 5 May.

The league’s growth aligns with the NBA’s dedication to providing youth with more opportunities to learn and play the game.

Supported by ADQ, Aldar, and DCT Abu Dhabi, the Jr. NBA Abu Dhabi League goes beyond the court, aiming to instill values such as teamwork, leadership, and respect in participants.

The league is part of a comprehensive collaboration between the NBA and DCT Abu Dhabi, contributing to Abu Dhabi’s status as a global hub for sporting activities and athletic programmes.
