Head to the Blue Hall in The Arts Center at NYUAD to catch Spain’s cello extraordinaire Pablo Ferrández in concert

Hailed by several as the ‘new cello genius’, Spain’s Pablo Ferrandez is all set to perform songs from his debut album Reflections.

Come February, the musician is taking to the stage in The Arts Center at NYUAD for a night of soothing tunes on 1 February.

As well as winning the prestigious Opus Klassik Award, the album features star guests including German violinist and former Abu Dhabi Festival performer Anne-Sophie Mutter, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and American pianist Lambert Orkis. The cello maestro will be accompanied by Spanish pianist Luis Del Valle.

His debut album, Reflections, won an Opus Klassik Award, and in autumn 2022, he released his second album, featuring the Brahms Double Concerto with the violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, and Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio with Mutter and Lambert Orkis.

Accompanied by his regular performance partner, the exceptional pianist Luis Del Valle, he will play a richly varied programme starting with De Falla’s “7 Canciones Populares”, then moving into powerful, romantic territory with Beethoven’s “Sonata for Cello and Piano no. 3”, Rachmaninov’s “Vocalise” and Franck’s Sonata in A major.
