The first look of the rail revealed a sleek passenger train that’s both spacious and sustainable.
The Etihad Rail Twitter account recently posted a look of the passenger train, and we can’t be more excited!
The UAE’s upcoming railway service is poised to connect the emirates to each other, as well as the country to Oman. Expected to be functional by 2030, the train is all things modern, sleek, and spacious. But the big win is a massive cut in commuting times as well as reduced carbon emissions.
It is a privilege for Etihad Rail to serve the nation, and we were honored to be showcased in UAE’s National Day Celebrations. This national showcase provided the perfect opportunity to give the UAE public a glimpse of the future, unveiling our first prototype passenger train. pic.twitter.com/GoS7rHZmpV

One of the largest infrastructure projects in the UAE and GCC region, Etihad Rail has put sustainability at the forefront while providing a state-of-the-art passenger and cargo railway network. The railway will reduce carbon emissions by 70-80% and will also provide more than 9,000 jobs. By 2030, the number of passengers is expected to reach 36.5 million annually.
In improving the efficiency of freight movement and providing integrated transportation and logistics solutions across the UAE and the wider region, it’s an exciting time to be in the country.
As of now, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah have been connected to the main line. The official website also mentions that the construction of the track is 70% complete.
According to a report by Khaleej Times, last week Etihad Rail also signed an agreement with leading UAE petrochemical company Borouge, to transport 1.3 million tonnes of polyolefins annually from its petrochemical complex in Al Ruways Industrial City via rail for export.
