Less honking, more cruising – here’s why driving in Abu Dhabi is easier this Ramadan
If you’ve ever braced yourself for the usual Ramadan traffic in Abu Dhabi, we’ve got good news: this year, it’s looking a whole lot easier to navigate.
Thanks to new restrictions on heavy vehicles, you won’t be playing dodge-the-truck on city roads during peak hours.
From Monday to Thursday, freight trucks, tankers, and other heavy vehicles are banned from 8am to 10am and 2pm to 4pm, so no more surprise slowdowns on your way to work or iftar.

And on Fridays?
They’re off the roads from 8pm to 1am, which means your late-night suhoor runs just got a little breezier.

Less congestion, fewer delays, and a smoother drive?
Sounds like a Ramadan win. Abu Dhabi Police is cracking down on enforcement, so truck drivers have to play by the rules, leaving you with a bit more breathing room on the roads.
So whether you’re dashing to the office, heading to an iftar, or squeezing in some last-minute shopping, this year’s Ramadan commute might just be the easiest one yet.
