Immerse yourself in art, culture, celebration and shared traditions at Louvre Abu Dhabi 

 

Embrace the spirit of Ramadan at Louvre Abu Dhabi, and make unforgettable memories beneath the museum’s iconic dome during this blessed month.

Visitors can experience the museum in a whole new light with extended hours, insightful Islamic talks and multiple F&B offerings.

 

Exclusive access to Kings & Queens of Africa

 

During Ramadan, the museum will remain open until 1 am, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the Kings & Queens of Africa exhibition with free access to Under the Dome & the exhibition once the permanent galleries have closed.

Additionally, a projection of Projection of Harmony, an artwork by renowned South African artist Dr. Esther Mahlangu, will be displayed as part of a commitment to celebrating African artistic heritage.

 

Islamic Philosophy talk series

 

In collaboration with NYU Abu Dhabi Institute, renowned scholars Taneli Kukkonen & Nader Bizri will explore two significant works of Islamic philosophy, drawing connections to contemporary culture.

Dr. Lamya Tawfiq will also bring key excerpts to life through Hakawati-style storytelling, evoking the rich tradition of folk tales for a captivating experience.

Talk 1: Hayy Ibn Yaqzan and his Castaway Companions

8 March, 9.30pm, Free, reservation required

Delve into Ibn Tufayl’s 12th-century masterpiece, which laid the foundation for the castaway genre with Speakers Dr. Lamya Tawfiq and Taneli Kukkonen and influenced classics like Robinson Crusoe and Cast Away, offering profound insights into human nature and solitude.

 

Talk 2: The Brethren of Purity and the Enduring Legacy of Animal Fables

15 March, 9.30pm, free

Explore how Islamic fables influenced tales across cultures, from Aesop’s fables to Peter Rabbit and 101 Dalmatians. Dr. Lamya Tawfiq and Nader El-Bizriwill bring the Hakawati storytelling tradition to life, immersing you in these timeless narratives.
