Snake

EAD issues warning to beachgoers.

Abu Dhabi beachgoers beware. A sea snake warning has been issued by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD).

Don’t worry though, you can still head to the beach. However, you’ll need to be a little more attentive towards those pesky if sea snake.

Sea snakes are a common sight in Abu Dhabi waters, according to EAD, who say that snakes tend to gather during the winter months when temperatures drop below 22 degrees.  Although these slithery sea lovers are poisonous, they seldom bite unless that provoked or scared.

What to do if you spot a sea snake?

  • Do not try to handle the sea snake if you spot one. Sometimes, they might look dead, but they are just sluggish.
  • While sea snakes rarely bite, they are poisonous. In case of a bite, seek immediate attention and inform health authorities.

So the advice is, do head to the beach while the temps are perfect, but do keep your peepers out them.
