Etihad Arena on Yas Island will host the hugely popular Pakistani singer-songwriter Atif Aslam.
A brand-new year is almost upon us and the great thing is that New Year’s Eve falls on a long weekend, with most of us enjoying an unexpected extra day off on Sunday 2 January as we ready ourselves for the new UAE working week.
Here in Abu Dhabi, we know how to enjoy ourselves and despite the updates in Covid-19 protocols, the capital and indeed the emirate is ready to party like it’s, well, 2022!
Apart from ensuring our safety, The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is also making sure that we all see 2022 in with great style with parties, concerts and those amazing firework shows across the entire emirate.
The New Year celebrations kicks off with five concerts around the UAE capital, Al Maryah Island’s South Plaza will host Middle Eastern music favourites with a triple-header performance from Arab superstars Balqees, Elissa and Hussein Al Jasmi.
Over on Yas Island, Etihad Arena is set to play host to the hugely popular Pakistani singer-songwriter Atif Aslam, while multi-award-winning global music icon DJ David Guetta will livestream a New Year’s Eve virtual set from Louvre Abu Dhabi, with the iconic museum serving as a backdrop for what is sure to be a spectacular show.
There’s no New Year celebration without the skies being set aglow with spectacular fireworks and Abu Dhabi certainly knows how to do it well, with a few world records set to be broken in the process.
Seven mesmerising firework displays will illuminate Abu Dhabi’s skies on the stroke of midnight with shows at Abu Dhabi Corniche, Al Maryah Island, Saadiyat Beach Club on Saadiyat Island, Yas Bay Waterfront on Yas Island and at Sheikh Zayed Festival in the Al Wathba.
Dazzling firework displays will also thrill audiences at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain and Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra Region.
DCT Abu Dhabi have also announced that you’ll be able to avail exclusive offers and packages with more than 40 New Year’s Eve celebrations taking place at participating hotels, restaurants and shopping malls throughout Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season retail extravaganza is also in full swing with over 3,500 outlets promising fabulous savings well into 2022.
