How to subscribe to the Unemployment Insurance Scheme: A step-by-step guide

UAE unemployment insurance scheme

Registration is now mandatory for the UAE unemployment insurance scheme.

The new year is here – which also means new rules and regulations are in place to make living in the UAE much easier. The Unemployment Insurance Scheme announced last year has now been made mandatory.

As of 1 January 2023, UAE citizens and residents need to subscribe to the Unemployment Insurance Scheme which grants them security in cases of job loss or resignation until they find another one.

Residents have until 30 June 2023 to subscribe to the service. However, those who started their jobs on or after 1 January 2023 have until four months to subscribe, calculated from the day they landed or had their visa status changed. Failure to do so will result in fines.
