ADIHEX auction sees prize falcon sold for this massive amount

Would you pay AED 600,000 for a prized falcon?

Well someone did, making it the latest bird to go for an impressive sum at an auction held on the final day of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition.

For the last week, dozens of pedigree birds of prey have been on sale at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. It’s been big sales for all the breeders and merchants at the cultural event.

Last year, the 19th edition of ADIHEX recorded the most expensive rare falcon sale in all of its history. Sold for a record AED 1.01 million ($272,257), the Pure Gyr American ultra-white falcon became the most expensive bird auctioned in 19 years of Adihex.

Last week, 25 of the UAE’s finest racing camel prospects were sold for a total of AED 1.2 million at another auction at the event.

The top camel this year was sold for AED 120,000, a fee the new owner will aim to surpass with wins on the track during camel racing season.

This year, over 1,200 exhibitors from 65 countries converged for the event that celebrates the UAE’s trade, culture and heritage.
