The latest MoU signed with the DoH – Abu Dhabi will assist MAWF UAE to reach children with critical illnesses and grant their wishes.
For years now, while the MAWF has not been able to guarantee a long life, it can certainly promise a happier one. Especially for critically ill children aged three to 18, they’ve gone above and beyond to make their wishes come true. More recently, they also hosted an annual charity gala ahead of the F1 Grand Prix in an attempt to facilitate some of the harder-to-realise wishes.
Now, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) and the Make-A-Wish Foundation UAE (MAWF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, through which they will assist the foundation to reach children during their medical treatment in the emirate’s healthcare facilities.
In attendance of Sheikha Noor Alqasimi, Make-A-Wish Foundation Board Member and Tariq Alwahedi, Make-A-Wish Foundation Board Member, the MoU was signed by Hind Al Zaabi, the Executive Director of Healthcare Facilities at the Department of Health-Abu Dhabi and Hani Alzubaidi, CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In an effort to bring more joy, positivity, and hope into these young lives, the collaboration will ensure that DoH provides MAWF with the necessary details and approvals, in order to contact the hospitalised children. All while maintaining the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality rights, of course.
Additionally, the MoU will enable MAWF to conduct several events and charitable activities on hospitals’ premises, with the DoH’s approval and support. Such events will help demonstrate the importance of raising awareness about life-threatening medical conditions while drawing smiles on children’s faces.
Established in 2010, MAWF UAE has gone on to become one of the most successful establishments to date, having granted over 5,850 wishes for children with chronic or terminal illnesses. Generously financed through donations, there’s also the participation of establishments, companies, and charitable individuals, who provide their financial support, and through several services and in-kind donations.
