Andrey Rublev to play at this year’s Mubadala World Tennis Championship

The defending champion’s the latest star name to join the six-player male line-up.

After a particularly marvellous win last year, Andrey Rublev will return to Abu Dhabi in December to defend his Mubadala World Tennis Championship title.

The organisers have confirmed the latest star name to join World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz and World No. 3 Casper Ruud. If the line-up wasn’t exciting enough, there are three further big-name players to be unveiled soon.

Having reached a career-high ranking of World No. 5, the 24-year-old has multiple prestigious wins under his belt. He secured his first Mubadala World Tennis Championship title last December with a straight-set victory over Andy Murray.

So far, Rublev has 11 ATP Tour singles titles and three doubles titles to his credit. He won the mixed doubles gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics alongside compatriot Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. He’s also reached the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam five times, including at this year’s French and US Opens.

Celebrating its 14th edition this year, the Mubadala World Tennis Championship runs from 16-18 December at the International Tennis Centre at Zayed Sports City. Tennis matches aside, there are plenty of interactive events for families to look forward to.
