Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Kite Fest 2017

Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts presents the second annual Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Kite Festival 2017.

The Kite Fest event is a day for everyone to enjoy the outdoors, experience Sir Bani Yas Island and to enjoy the kite sport. However, it is not just about flying a kite. The event serves as a great opportunity to spend the day together on the beach and to enjoy this incredible sight of colourful kites flying in the horizon.

Visitors can take part in kite building and flying, with great prizes for the most unique creations. Enjoy music, beach activities, a complimentary sausage sizzle, and complimentary soft drinks plus bar beverages available for cash purchase. Registration is required due to limited numbers and also to secure spots on the complimentary water taxis to and from the island.

Kite Fest 2017 is complimentary for all Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts’ guests. Day visitors pay AED 150* per adult and AED 100* per child, including water taxi, island transportation, BBQ and non-alcoholic beverages.
*Subject to 10% Service Charge, 6% Tourism Fee and 4% Municipality Fee.

Making and Looking Together, Parent and Child

Manarat Al Saadiyat

This specially designed hands-on activity tour allows children up to age five to create art with a parent or caregiver. Based on the artwork of Susan Hefuna, Anish Kapoor, and Tanaka Atsuko, families will create art in the galleries in front of the actual works. Please wear clothing you do not mind getting messy.

Al Bateen Beach

A kids only and schools focused ‘’Swim Run Event’’ is held on the safe and protected beach premises in Abu Dhabi.

Bring your children to participate as the event is open to all ages and they would surely love the excitement.
Distances include:

  • Super Sprint (375m swim and 2.5km run) – for the elite athlete who has experienced such events at competitive level.
  • Junior Competitive our main event (200m swim and 1.5km run), suitable for children ready to participate at a competitive level
  • Junior Splash and Dash (100m swim and 750m run) – the next step up from the Tiny Tri (confidence with swimming in deeper waters is required)
  • Tiny Tri – Walk, paddle or swim (100m) through knee deep waters on the shore line and 200m run.

Medals and finishers prizes are awarded to all participants.

There is also the team option where a swimmer can team up with a runner.
All races earn participation points for schools.

The programme has been curated to support the UNESCO theme ‘Protecting our Heritage and Fostering Creativity’. The programme will provide a variety of platforms to encounter the Emirate’s cherished past, while being immersed in today’s urban landscapes through multi-sensory experiences.
Al Ain celebrates a vibrant cultural scene, bridging a rich history with diverse forms of contemporary practices, preserving intangible heritage gems. The engaging series of activities planned will translate the multiple layers of the city for residents and visitors to explore, understand and enjoy.

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh present the multi award-winning musical Mary Poppins. The magical story of the world’s favourite Nanny arriving on Cherry Tree Lane has been triumphantly and spectacularly brought to the stage with dazzling choreography, incredible effects and unforgettable songs.
The stage production of MARY POPPINS is brilliantly adapted from the wonderful stories by PL Travers and the beloved Walt Disney film.  It is co-created by Cameron Mackintosh and has a book by Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes. With a timeless score by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman including the songs; Jolly Holiday, Step in Time, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and Feed the Birds with new songs and additional music and lyrics by the Olivier award-winning British team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

The Creative Act: Performance, Process, Presence

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority presents The Creative Act: Performance, Process, Presence the second exhibition to feature artwork acquired for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, on view at Manarat al Saadiyat from March 8 – July 29.

The programme is free and includes a guided tour of the exhibition, art activities, and an educator resource guide.
Prior registration is required.
