If you’re looking for the best things to do to keep your family entertained in Abu Dhabi throughout the summer then look no further. Eid Al Adha

With an extended weekend to look forward to, we’ve put together your go-to guide to make the most of the Eid Al Adha celebrations this year. We’ve found the best family events and things to do in the Capital.

Ramadan-and-Eid-Al-Fitr-Activation-at-The-Galleria

Live Performances & Kids Activities

Malls across the Capital will be hosting live performances and plenty of activities for the kids during Eid.

From 22 – 25 August, enjoy four days of fun-packed acts as a host of talented artists roam around Abu Dhabi Mall, providing live entertainment daily from 3pm-10pm. families can watch live performances from a circus parade, magician, juggler, and colourful mimes, plus there’ll be a roaming jukebox and even an unusual ball display- you’ll have to see it to believe it!

Indulge in traditional treats, be enthralled by cultural dances, and get creative at The Galleria from 3pm-9pm each day between 20-24 August.

Rotana

Staycations & Family Brunch

If you’re in need of a last-minute summer break without breaking the bank then now is the time to do it. Lots of hotels are offering reduced rates to GCC residents, including the newly opened Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel and Residences Emirates Pearl, with staycation rates starting from AED700 per night. There’s also 25% off the best available rates at The Pearl Rotana Capital Centre, so why not make the most of the hotel’s special Eid brunch and combine it with a stay?

If you’re just looking for brunch, then Saadiyat Rotana Resort’s brunch on Wednesday 22 August includes a host of interactive live cooking stations with over 100 dishes from around the world, plus there’s a dedicated kids’ area with games and activities.

Around The World

With a fun programme of activities and workshops, Around the World is all about encouraging children to learn about global cultures, developing their environmental, and social knowledge. Taking place in all public libraries across Abu Dhabi.

Art Studio

Art Studio Workshops

Art Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat offers a range of workshops that are specially designed for every age group and for all levels of ability. Timed workshops are led by teaching artists and explore a variety of techniques, styles and themes.

Dates: Available throughout the summer

Masha & The Bear at Marina Mall Abu Dhabi

Masha and the Bear will take children on a thrilling adventure at Marina Mall Abu Dhabi with daily performances at 4:30pm, 6pm and 7:30pm. Visitors to the mall are guaranteed to be wowed by the amazing acrobatic performances. Each 30-minute live show will also include sing-a-long and dance to the much-loved tunes inspired by the Russian fairy tales.

Standing tickets are free, or tickets for seats start at AED 10 per person.VIP tickets are also available for AED 20 which give fans access to the VIP seating area in addition and the chance to go backstage for 15 minutes to meet the characters and take pictures with them.

Eid-Al-Adha-Celebrations-at-Yas-Marina

Daily Fireworks Display at Yas Marina

Yas Marina will welcome families with quirky food trucks and evening Dhow cruises in a spectacular three-day celebration this Eid Al Adha, culminating in an impressive firework show at 9pm each evening.

Why not experience something traditional and watch the fireworks from the water onboard a traditional dhow boat, complete with Arabic coffee and dates. Captain Tony’s cruises will depart from the marina at 8.30pm every evening.

There’s something for foodies too, as all of Yas Marina’s award-winning restaurants will be open, including Cipriani Yas Island, Iris, Aquarium, Diablito and Stars ‘N’ Bars.

Guava Pass

Family Fitness Challenge

Kip McGrath Writing Competition

Year of Zayed Writing Competition

In celebration of the Year of Zayed, we’re looking for aspiring authors to enter our writing competition with Kip McGrath at Al Raha Mall.

There are two age categories, ages 6 – 11 and ages 12 – 18, with prizes of a AED500 Kip McGrath voucher and a AED150 Borders voucher up for grabs in each.

SAVE THE DATE: 'Dance' at New York University Abu Dhabi

If you are a fan of dance, music, and cinema then you need to save 5-6 September in your diary for ‘Dance’ by the Lucinda Childs Dance Company.

The breakthrough multi-media production will take place in New York University Abu Dhabi’s Red Theatre on 5-6 September to kick off what’s going to a be an unforgettable 2018-2019 arts calendar.
