Have you ever considered a UK boarding education?

Find out more at the UK Boarding School Exhibition.

‘You give your child one chance at education, make sure it is exceptional!’

On Friday 12 November and Saturday 13 November from 2pm to 7pm and 11am to 4pm respectively, at the UK Boarding School Exhibition, children and parents have the opportunity to explore the benefits a British boarding school can provide pupils as they look to take their next step on their educational path.

Taking place at Grosvenor House Hotel on Dubai Marina, the exhibition hosted by Anderson Education enables families living in the UAE and the Gulf Region to meet of the Heads and Representatives of more than 21 UK boarding schools and ask questions of Education Consultants.

Free to attend, the event will also see a pre-recorded presentation from UK Study Group who will impart tips and advice on UK university fee status for UK passport holders as parents and pupils look to sixth form and beyond.

The decision of where your child takes their next step in their educational career is one of the biggest to made by every parent in the UAE and more families are selecting boarding education for their children entering sixth form because the nurturing and encouraging environment provides an easier transition to university life.

Director and Education Consultant at Anderson Education, Sara Sparling, believes that it is important for all families to do substantial research on their next potential school.

Ms Sparling says: “The education of each and every child is one of the most important decisions we, as parents, make and it is important to spend time researching the options; with access to the internet children are increasingly involved in the search for the most suitable school.

“As UK Boarding School Education Consultants we recommend that families start their research 18 months to two years before entry and arrange a personal visit to a short list of schools which will be geared towards the strengths and interests of your child, rather than a well-staged open day.”

The stats are clear when it comes to career opportunities for those who attend a British boarding school. More than two thirds of Britain’s Oscar winning actors and 61 per cent of Premiership Rugby players went to independent schools along with 92 per cent of pupils in the UK progressing to higher education, including 56 per cent to Russell Group universities.

And while British boarding schools deliver results for pupils, one aspect which Ms Sparling highlights is that not only do children graduate from school with a fantastic educational record but they leave as well-rounded young adults thanks to comprehensive pastoral care programmes.

She says: “Although schools need to demonstrate value by achieving top results, they equally need to provide their students with life skills to cope with the pressures of the 21st century.

“Many schools are now offering a holistic approach to education with innovative ways of improving students’ wellbeing.  Schools are adopting techniques such as peer mentors, meditation, yoga, Mindfulness Club and an extensive pastoral care programme.

“An outdoor education programme introduces pupils to risk management in a supportive school environment and enables them to demonstrate and adopt behaviours that will help them lead a productive and interesting life in which they are organised and flexible, willing to have a go and open to learning from their experiences.”
