Brighten up your night with Qasr Al Watan Light Show

Your weekend plans sorted at this amazing light show in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is a city that isn’t short of things to check out and do.

But one of the real gems in the city’s activity crown (no puns intended) is the Palace in Motion light and sound show at Qasr Al Watan.

Taking place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, the Presidential Palace’s facade lights up the night thanks to 52 projectors accompanied by dramatic, orchestra chimes for a 15-minute a whirlwind journey through the various landscapes and history of the UAE.

Team Yalla took up their seats at the weekend for the iridescent light bonanza in the Presidential grounds and it is safe to say we were not disappointed.

Upon arrival, once you have completed all the formalities of the thermal check, the Al Hosn app and collection of tickets at the ticket office, you will hop onto a bus that ferries you directly to the Palace.

While the light show commences at 8pm, a cheeky tip is to arrive around 7pm so you can get yourself unimpeded shots of the Palace for your socials as well as a prime position for the show.

As the time ticks down to the brightening of the Palace, visitors will be teased by shots of colourful lights darting across the exterior.

Once the show starts, it is hard not to marvel at some of the sheer brilliance of the work put in by the Show Technology team including cinematic sunsets, vast deserts and a superb Rubik’s Cube styled scene where the Palace shifts and moves to the backdrop of a wonderful score.

It has to be noted that you do not need to embark on the tour of the Palace to experience the lights’ show, however a walk around Qasr Al Watan will allow guests to enjoy exhibitions, artefacts and architecture from the UAE.

A lovely way to spend an evening in the city, a trip to Qasr Al Watan this September should be pencilled into your diary.
