Meet Monty, our next Rising Star

Our newest Rising Star is 15 year old Monty, a champion cyclist who wants to encourage more children to take up cycling for more than just the sports’ impact on health and fitness.

Having only been cycling for two years, Monty already has a number of impressive achievements under his belt; he is a sports scholar at the British School Al Khubairat, the first cyclist in the the Daman Future Champions program, and is leading the way in the junior category of the Abu Dhabi Cycling Championships- and that’s without even mentioning his two first place finishes in the Abu Dhabi Tour Challenge this year, one of which finished at the dizzy heights of the summit of Jebel Hafeet.

Monty is a seriously impressive cyclist with a totally cool persona to match, and it was genuinely a pleasure to interview him. After spending just a few minutes with Monty, his passion for cycling was more than evident, and it was very touching to see how the sport has had such a positive impact on his life.

Cycling in the UAE

Confession time: We thought we knew everything about cycling in the UAE, but interviewing Monty, we’ve learnt so much about the sport in the region. Cue Monty to tell us more…
