IKEA Al Wahda officially opens today

The day has finally come when once again you can browse IKEA in the downtown area of Abu Dhabi

There are just days to go before you can be tucking into Swedish meatballs in Abu Dhabi City

Team Yalla is so excited that IKEA’s second location in Abu Dhabi city is finally here. Yes, the store officially opens today and those of us who live in the city can now access all that IKEA has to offer close by instead of having to head over to Yas Island where IKEA has a bigger store.

The store was initially due to open in July 2020, but that was pushed back to the new opening date of 10 November, and then again to 18 November, which, at the time of writing, is today.

The store, even at more than 2,000 sqm, won’t be as big as the one located on Yas Island. However, the new store’s central location near the city centre area of Abu Dhabi will make it more accessible for many city dwellers.

Flavoursome natural goodness

IKEA also announced this week that its tasty Swedish meat balls will also be palatable for vegans. The all-new  plant-based ‘meat’ ball is full of natural goodness, including pea protein, potatoes, onion, oats and apple, with added umami flavours, like mushroom, tomato and a powder from roasted vegetables.
