Four days until new Abu Dhabi entry rules come into force

60-day grace period for new residency permit holders.

The clock is ticking and if you’re not yet vaccinated, then you will be denied access to many places in Abu Dhabi.

Everybody will need to have a Green Pass showing on their Al Hosn app in order to gain entry to many places in Abu Dhabi, including malls, restaurants, gyms and so on.

The new rules were recently confirmed by Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee approves and go into from 20 August.

The list of venues that will be affected include shopping centres and malls, restaurants, cafes, all other retail outlets, including those not within a shopping centre, gyms, recreational facilities and sporting activities, health clubs, resorts, museums, cultural centres and theme parks.

The list also includes universities, institutes, public and private schools and children’s nurseries in the emirate.

Those unvaccinated or with grey status showing on Al Hosn app will not be allowed entry.

Booster shot

The UAE News Agency – Wam reported that “the committee explained that to maintain the vaccinated status on Al Hosn app, a booster dose must be taken six months after receiving the second vaccine dose pertaining to the medical protocol for each vaccine.”

It pointed out that committee said that a grace period of 30 days is to be administered to all those who have taken their second dose more than six months ago, before their status turns grey on 20 September.

Participants in vaccine trials are exempt from needing a booster dose.
