It is the latest in environmental-friendly actions carried out in the emirate.
Abu Dhabi is known by many names but it could be known as ‘Flower City’ soon with some eight million seasonal flowers being planted this winter season.
Revealed on social media by The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (DMT), the emirate has seen the huge number of seedlings but into the ground by DMT teams and affiliated entities across Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain and the Al Dhafrah region.
Some 3.7 million flowers have been planted to date in the Abu Dhabi Municipality; 1.8 million in Al Ain Municipality and more than three million in the Al Dhafrah Municipality.
Speaking on the major plantation, the DMT said: “The flowers add an aesthetic touch to the general appearance of our beautiful Abu Dhabi.”
But the planting of flowers is not the only eco-action being taken by the emirate.
In January, the Jubail Island Investment Company committed to planting more than one million mangrove trees over the next 10 years.
