BiCE: That’s Italian

There’s a reason Italian food is universal: it’s filling comfort food, fresh and vibrant, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a person who doesn’t love it. #YallaEats gave it a whirl.

Though it’s universal, this diner cannot count the times when we were promised a ‘true Italian dining experience’ only to be left disappointed by how not traditional it turned out to be.

Fortunately, this is not the case at BiCE Ristorante in Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. If feeling at home is a hallmark of Italian cuisine, this place delivers this concept from start to finish.

We were greeted warmly and authentically time after time in BiCE and offered a lovely table for two poolside. There was a band playing in the nearby all-day dining spot Nahaam, so the Saturday night vibe was on point. The music was not near enough to be distracting to conversation and just far enough to be mood enhancing.

We were given some light and fluffy focaccia and dipping sauces, which were so tempting that it was hard to not eat the entire basket though we knew that this is Italian food, and we must save room.

For starters, we opted for the signature burrata dish—a perfect mix of salty and creamy – the burrata exceptionally fresh and the scallops. Both were served swiftly; the flavours were bright, and the presentation was flawless.

For the main course, we chose the roasted lamb, which was served with bright veggies and was just heavenly. The generously sized steak was simply cooked to perfection – utterly tender and without doubt one of the best we have had in the capital. We also opted for the seafood mixed grill, which was enough for three people, with so many sea selections represented, it was hard to know where to start. It was also served with roasted vegetables and, though large, it was perfect. After all, who quips about too much seafood?

For dessert, we tried the pistachio gelato and the tiramisu; the former was light and mildly flavoured, while the latter was a tad bit sweet respectively. But, we shared them so it was the perfect end to a rich meal.

The staff at BiCE is a great example to all others in high end restaurants – genuinely caring, polite, and always, always on standby. BiCE is very romantic but also family-friendly. It is equally an impressive place to take a date, family members visiting the city, or to bring the family on a whim.
