Abu Dhabi lifts border requirements

Need for negative PCR tests to enter is scrapped.

Abu Dhabi Entry PCR Test Requirements Updates - Yalla Abu Dhabi

It’s the news we have all been waiting for – Abu Dhabi’s border rules will be lifted.

Effective Sunday 19 September, there will be no requirement to produce a negative COVID-19 result when entering the emirate from one of the other six emirates.

The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee said the decision taken today (18 September) was based on the decrease in COVID-19 infection rates in the emirate to 0.2 of all tests as well as the activation of the AL HOSN app green pass system into public places.

Authorities said it would continue to monitor events and urged all those in the emirate to adhere to safety precautions.

Previously, anyone who was vaccinated, or participating in a clinical trial, could cross the border into Abu Dhabi with the E or star icon on their AL HOSN app.

Those who were not fully vaccinated could enter the emirate with a negative PCR test done 48 hours prior to arrival or undergo a DPI test 24 hours before entry.

Follow up PCR tests would then have to be taken on day four and day eight or day three and day seven respectively.
