A Summer’s Day in Abu Dhabi

50 degrees outside, the kids are at home, bored, thinking there’s nothing to do. Think again. Here is Yalla’s list of places to beat the heat and keep you entertained all summer long.

You’re all inside and your kids are already climbing the walls! What’s a parent to do? Yalla knows. Here are the top eight indoor activities for kids in the capital this summer that parents may even enjoy too!

Al Saadah Art Gallery

While away an afternoon being crafty when you drop into Al Saadah Art Gallery to paint a tile. Al Saadah Art Gallery is the physical embodiment of a dream—the dream of Ohan Balian to celebrate and continue the creative tiling artistry for which his family, particularly his late mother, are so well known. He dreams of sharing his love of this ancient artwork with the population of Abu Dhabi and visitors.

The Al Saadah Art Gallery features ceramic artwork fired in an onsite kiln and created by Ohan following techniques passed down to him that his family has employed for generations. As well as a chance to learn about this fascinating art form, visitors will also enjoy the opportunity to try their hand at tile painting and take home their very own colorful artwork under the instruction of expert teachers, including Ohan, and the gallery’s highly capable and creative staff. Manarat Al Saadiyat

The Art Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat is quite possibly the best place for a creative kid to while away a few hours a day in the summertime. Parents who seek just a little artistic stimulation from time-to-time can drop into the Studio to create for an hour or two. Alternatively, parents who require a bit more time in a day, might enroll their kids in the Art Studio’s super fun summer camp. There, campers can create to their heart’s delight with both structured art lessons and unstructured creative time where they may pursue pastimes as delightful as they are colourful in a supervised setting. The very best part of this camp is that a delectable lunch is provided everyday by LARTE, because what sort of a red-blooded creative kid doesn’t prefer to refuel with pizza and pasta?
