We're celebrating books. Happy World Book Day!

World Book Day is an opportunity for book worms, young and old, to celebrate their favourite authors, illustrators, stories and most of all, celebrate their love of reading.

This annual celebration, now in its 20th year, is usually a time for children to dress up as their favourite characters, discuss their favourite books, as well as play a variety of fun games linked to these stories.

Designated by UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), this celebration is the biggest of its kind – celebrated in more than 100 countries.

Families around the world will enjoy reading their favourite fiction, non-fiction and picture books today, and celebrate their favourite authors which may include the likes of Roald Dahl, Julia Donaldson, Jaqueline Wilson and Jeff Kinney.

Every year, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) announces the top children’s books, and for 2017, a few on the list includes:
