Dubai Design District (d3) is about to be your ‘Sole’ focus this December

The highly anticipated culture-leading festival is back for its 10-year anniversary at Dubai Design District.

If your Sole yearns for music, fashion, visual arts, sports or all four together, you already know what we’re talking about!

Back after a three-year hiatus, Dubai’s hotly anticipated cultural festival is all set to take December by storm. Previous editions of Sole DXB have seen stellar lineups including the likes of Nas, Stormzy, Hiroshi Fujiwara, and Petra Collins among others.

Suffice it to say, guests can safely expect the bigwigs of all four industries for the 2022 edition. Scheduled from 9-11 December, excitement for the event has reached fever pitch as a record number of festival-goers are expected to descend on Dubai Design District (d3).

In collaboration with strategic partners Dubai Design District (d3), Sole DXB has remained a thought leader in terms of exploring the power of the arts in shaping a city. Historically, the festival has been built on its four pillars – music, fashion, visual arts, and sports.

Spotlighting a different subculture for each edition, the 10th anniversary sees Sole DXB fittingly bring the story back home! Focusing on the Arab world and its diaspora, you can spot Moroccan visual artist Hassan Hajjaj as its first festival host.

The Sole team travelled to Morocco this summer, learning and drawing inspiration from their culture, creators, and creatives. The culmination of these travels is what you’ll find front and centre in the festival’s iconic campaign shot by Hassan, in the historic Madina of Marrakech.

This year’s campaign features Moroccan rapper ElGrande Toto and master vocalist and percussionist, Khadija El Warzazia. The festival will also feature musicians, designers, artists, speakers and athletes from the UAE, Kuwait, KSA, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Morocco, Algeria, and more.

At its heart, Sole DXB is a genre-busting platform for businesses to connect and speak with audiences. Attendees can expect to find a highly-curated selection of global brands, from sportswear and contemporary giants to the best of independent fashion and design from the region and beyond.

If that wasn’t enough, the festival will host exclusive experiential installations from the likes of New Balance, Puma, and The Giving Movement. Other key elements of the event include the Sole Ball Above All Invitational, the region’s most competitive streetball tournament and the Sneaker Swap, where people will have the opportunity to buy, sell and trade footwear from leading collectors in the region.

With a lot more coming up, December’s the time to hit the d3 streets – all heart and Sole!
