The Marriage of Figaro is a comic opera in four acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte, and is based on Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais’s 1784 play Le Mariage de Figaro.
Set in Count Almaviva’s castle in Seville in the late 18th Century, The Marriage of Figaro is a sequel to his earlier play, Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville), familiar to opera audiences through Rossini’s great opera. With Mozart’s masterpiece of a score, the result is a witty yet profound tale of love, betrayal and forgiveness.
Performed by Teatro Di San Carlo from Napoli
