Qasr Al Muwaiji, Al Ain

19 October – 26 April

Qasr Al Muwaiji, the birthplace of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, will celebrate the nation’s poets and writers each month with Poetry Evenings, accompanied by educational workshops, while weekly Ayyala and Harbiya performances will take place in the palace courtyard. Additional workshops at Qasr Al Muwaiji will include a monthly Etiquette and Protocol session called Yalsa for the community and a Royal ‘Bisht’ Workshop, which will showcase the different patterns that each UAE ruler had on his bisht, followed by sewing workshops.

Archaeology and Traditional Architecture enthusiasts can also enjoy the weekly Excavations and Treasure Hunts organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism’s archaeology team from October to April; as well as taking part in a Restoration experience where visitors can practice the mud brick restoration process through a series of workshops that are designed to work as individual classes or a masterclass series if attended on a weekly basis. The Department’s conservation team will also talk about their work and importance of their role. A Falconer’s Camp will run every week from October 2017 through to April 2018, where visitors can become falconers for an hour; while the Little Museum Professionals programme will allow children to run Qasr Al Muwaiji on Fridays from May 2018 through to September 2018 under the watchful eye of the museum’s visitor services team.
