Have you ever listened to smooth beats of Chosun pop?
The sound combines pop, soul and R&B with Korea’s traditional easy-going rhythms, melodies and stories. The style was born as traditional Korean music looked to established its place among modern and popular beats.
One of the biggest purveyors of the genre is sEODo Band and the rising stars of the Korean music scene will be performing their melodic chimes online on NYU Abu Dhabi’s website.
The concert organised by the university in partnership with the Korean Cultural Center will see SEODo perform classics such as ‘Chunhyang-ga’ which is often described as Korea’s answer to Romeo and Juliet in that the main characters marry in secret due to their different class backgrounds.
Playing on Wednesday 10 November at 8pm, you can catch the chilled out sounds of sEODo online at NYU Abu Dhabi, free of charge.
