Manarat Al Saadiyat Auditorium
3-4 May
Dancing, twisting, winding, swaying, and performing in front of a masterpiece – what a magical way to discover artwork. This is what Arts in Motion is offering for the first time in Abu Dhabi: a dance performance in front of a Masterpiece.
Arts in Motion is an innovative programming combining visual art and dancing. Original Masterpieces from the permanent collection of the Department of Culture and Tourism are revealed for the first time with the art of dancing. The choreography is fully inspired by the concept of 20th century masterpieces and by their meaning and their exceptional significance.
The first artwork to be displayed in Motion is a blue monochrome painting by Yves Klein, IKB 113, painted in 1959. This is the blue period of the artist: the selection of the color blue is fully embraced following a trip in Assize in Italy where he discovered the sky of the Renaissance’s artist, Giotto. For Yves Klein, the color blue is uniform and spiritual.
In cooperation with Sima Dance Company, The choreography with three dancers evokes Yves Klein’s universe; and plunges the public into a poetic atmosphere with Movement II by Philip Glass.
