Experience one of the UAE’s best-known archaeological sites with this Emirati-led guided tour

DATE & TIME

The Knot takes adventure seekers through a journey across Al Ain to learn more about Emirati culture and traditions.

Here’s your chance to discover amazing stories about Emirati life you’ve probably never heard before and experience the grandeur of Abu Dhabi’s hidden cultural gems.

In a new “time-capsule trip” organised by The Knot, an Emirati-led start-up that offers authentic social and cultural experiences in Abu Dhabi through carefully curated stories of past and present, adventure seekers will journey to Al Ain to explore ancient tombs and archaeological sites, learn about Emirati culture and traditions, and even make their own date dessert.

Scheduled for Sunday, 12 March, the guided tour is a chance to experience the region’s heritage in a fun and educational way, with expert guides taking visitors to a walkthrough across Hili Archaeological Park, one of the UAE’s best-known archaeological sites.

Part of the Hili Cultural Site and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Al Ain, the park contains the UAE’s largest collection of tombs and buildings from the Bronze Age (3000-1300 BCE) and Iron Age (1300-300 BCE), featuring villages, burial grounds and agricultural infrastructure.

There is also a workshop on the ancient Masnad language, as well as complimentary henna and date tamraya workshops.

Founded by Emirati Sana’a Amro, The Knot aims to bridge a gap in the local tourism industry where residents and tourists in the UAE rarely come into contact with Emiratis and authentic Emirati culture.

“How many tourists come and go without meeting an Emirati or knowing what the UAE is? And all [that] they saw is some fancy buildings and then left? They probably don’t even know the story behind these fancy buildings,” Amro said in an interview with Yalla Abu Dhabi.

The Knot offers curated cultural and social tours where guests can experience the authentic side of the country, debunking stereotypes and myths about Emirati life
