Shrek The Musical comes to the UAE

The enchanting theatrical performance will bring everyone’s favourite green ogre to the stage.

We’ve seen The Lion King musical and now another musical is heading to the UAE.

Shrek The Musical, based on the Oscar-winning film, will launch in Dubai from 21-26 February 2023.

The enchanting live musical will bring everyone’s favourite ogre to the stage at Dubai Opera for a series of captivating performances. This musical comedy show will include Shrek’s well-loved hilarious characters, from the brave Princess to the loud-mouthed Donkey, the short-tempered villain and beloved cookie and a host of fairy-tale favourites lighting up the stage.

The show will tell the dazzling story of Shrek, in a faraway kingdom where things are turned upside down, when an unassuming ogre shows up to rescue a feisty princess instead of the typical handsome prince. This live take on the show will feature 19 additional tunes to the already popular soundtrack, creative choreography, and awe-inspiring backdrops.

Across the running of the show, there have been over 500 spectacular performances since its launch on Broadway, New York in 2008 with the show winning eight coveted Tony Award nominations in 2009.

The show has been performed on stages across UK, Ireland, Poland, France, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Macau and China.

The epic show will now be performed throughout the Middle East across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and beyond.
