An exhibition through the lens of time

The Photography Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, presents an exhibition titled ‘The Shot’.

For the first time in the Middle East, catch an exciting new exhibition displaying an array of historically significant images. From 19 December to 24 April, head to The Photography Studio at Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi, to catch The Shot.

On display are the earliest photography techniques and images produced from the early 1800s, including works by renowned, pioneering photographers. The exhibition also highlights how modern-day techniques can enhance such photos with the artistic use of light and shadow – especially for black and white photos.

History enthusiasts are in for a treat as the exhibition offers an outstanding collection of original photo prints of historical figures from the early 1800s till date.

The exhibition also offers an opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, where one can experience the earliest form of photo capturing. The same uses a dark room known as Al Qumra – which has its origins in the work of Arab scientist Ibn al-Haytham. Photography enthusiasts will also be able to capture photos in a traditional studio and learn how to process and print those photos based on the style of each time period.

Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, The Shot is held in cooperation with Auer photo Foundation and Time & Tempo, Geneva, Switzerland.
