Zayed Cricket Stadium and Tolerance Oval will host the matches.

Abu Dhabi will host the qualifiers for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup this month, it has been announced.

Scheduled to take place from 18 to 25 September, eight teams will compete at Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub (ADCSH) for the final two spots at next year’s tournament in South Africa.

Hosts UAE, Bangladesh, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Thailand, the USA and Zimbabwe will battle it out to join Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies and South Africa at the cricket jamboree.

ADCSH CEO, Matt Boucher said; “Female participation is a central pillar for us and we’re pleased to boast over 2,300 women and girls playing 11 sports or practicing physical exercise on a weekly basis at Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub.

“The hosting of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers will once again inspire our sport’s community and showcase just how brilliant elite women’s sport is.”

The teams will be split into two groups of four with the top two in each group qualifying for the semi-finals.

The winners of the last four clashes will earn a place in the final at Zayed Cricket Stadium as well as a spot at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Day one will see the UAE play Thailand at the Zayed Cricket Stadium followed by Zimbabwe versus Papua New Guinea at Tolerance Oval.

It will be the first international to be played at the oval since it gained ICC accreditation for international matches.
